Project location: Mitchell, South Dakota, United States
The Mitchell Area Safehouse is a domestic violence shelter that serves about a 50 mile radius around Mitchell, South Dakota with an eight county area. The Safehouse is currently in the process of planning, dreaming and seeking land for a future home of a new shelter and family visitation center. They provide a wide variety of services including advocacy, emergency shelter, family support services and education. They are currently outgrowing their 1998 facility, and are looking to grow their facility by not only expanding services but to better meet the needs of the community and surrounding areas. They are currently in the process of planning, dreaming and seeking land for the future home of the new shelter and family visitation center. This would affect the future lives of many women and children that have survived domestic violence, and would provide many more opportunities for women and children to get the adequate resources they need and deserve in these hard times.
Domestic Violence is a serious problem and the Mitchell Area Safehouse does amazing work helping women and children in Mitchell, South Dakota that have survived domestic abuse. I have worked for the Safehouse and have helped my mom and her friends plan fundraisers for years. I have gotten to know the work that they do and think it's a great need for women & children. They do amazing things not only for our town but surrounding counties with educating people on the needs of our community. Please help support the Mitchell Area Safehouse in their plans to grow!
