in partnership
with Grangou
Project location: Port of Prince, Haiti
We started our outreach in Haiti in 2011, when my husband Doug and I took our first trip to Port au Prince. We were blown away by the heart & love these kids had, despite their circumstances. We wanted to do everything we could to help bring hope to Haiti. Over the years we have partnered with an organization, Grangou as we put together day camps, building projects, holiday gifts, school supply drives and more. Haiti has been in extreme crisis for the last several years. Political instability and increased criminal activity coupled with natural disasters and extreme poverty has made life beyond difficult for millions on the island. Grangou provides the funding for Travay Bondye, a childrens home in Port-au-prince, Haiti that employees over 20 Haitians and is run by Haitians for Haitians. Grangou shelters children from the poverty and violence of the streets but also realizes they need more than just food; they also need education, wholistic formation, and economic opportunity. Many children in Haiti are unable to attend school as there are very few public schools available and families cannot afford this commitment. The street kids who are in the care of the group home, Travay Bondye have the opportunity to attend school. Investing in education & the future leaders of Haiti can bring change. Through this project we can educate and empower these kids by providing school tuition, school supplies, exam fees, school lunch, school shoes, and tutors. We are also excited to put together on site learning tools such as a library and computer lab. Thank you for helping us encourage and empower the future of Haiti through education!!
