The Hope Center

A three-part video series

Young Living Foundation partner Sole Hope is working in and around Jinja, Uganda, to help communities become jigger-free. Aside from crippling pain and disease, jiggers can prevent thousands of children from attending school, stop parents from working, and entrench families deeper in poverty. But, when individuals are empowered with jigger education and economic opportunities, they can effectively prevent, identify, and treat jiggers in their homes and communities.

Your donations help us fund Sole Hope’s jigger-removal services and educational outreach programs to empower those who become jigger-free to remain jigger-free. We also support the Hope Center, a medical facility that provides day-to-day care and education for more advanced cases of jiggers. This three-part video series highlights Sole Hope's treatment and education efforts for each patient that comes through the Hope Center.

Episode 1: Reaching those in need

Working with local communities, Sole Hope's social workers and mobile team will travel multiple hours to bring patients with severe cases of jiggers to the Hope Center where they will stay for about two weeks for treatment.

Episode 2: A holistic care approach

The Hope Center's trained medical workers treat individuals with severe cases of jiggers and other physical ailments. Jiggers can weaken the immune system and patients can have malaria, stomach illness, and many other health problems.

Episode 3: Shoes and restoration

The best way to prevent jiggers is to wear shoes. The shoes Sole Hope provides are unique. Individuals around the world can host a shoe-cutting party where you can cut up your gently used denim into shoe patterns that Sole Hope's shoemakers turn into shoes.
