Puerto Rico Disaster Relief

Puerto Rico Disaster Relief

This message is from Althea Gray a freind of Nancy Mendez from San Sebastian PR.

WORD From Puerto Rico . True SOS
I finally received notice from my client in Puerto Rico. She got phone signal from her uncle's phone who carrier is a Puerto Rico based Co. Nancy Mendez lives on the west side of the island with her elderly parents. Her mother has advanced Alzheimer's disease. She had to drive 45 minutes to get the phone signal.......gas is very very dear.
My Report:
No help has come to the west side of the island. People are desperate. Nancy described the situation to be like an "apocalypse". There has been a huge death toll. People are desperate waiting on long lines for hours for gas, water. Shops are closing because they do not have diesel fuel for their generators. One man set himself on fire in church another killed a person for gasoline. The Mayor of San Juan is telling the truth. The Governor is not. THEY ARE DESPERATE.

Message to Our President: Stop playing golf.......roll up your sleeves and travel through Puerto Rico to see the level of devastation that has happened and continues to happen.
Puerto Rican people are American citizens. They need our help more than you can imagine.

GIVE HOPE

Help extend our relief efforts to Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Starting October 2, we will be making multiple daily flights into San Juan, Puerto Rico, to fly hospital patients to Florida. This is an incredible opportunity that will allow Young Living and the Young Living Foundation to utilize our resources to send much-needed relief supplies to Puerto Rico, while also helping transport those who need constant medical attention.

With this disaster, our greatest interest is to safeguard human lives (member or non-member) by bringing those who need medical attention to Florida and by providing supplies to vulnerable people as nearly half of Puerto Rico’s 3.4 million residents still lack potable water.

HELP US DO MORE

Young Living and the Young Living Foundation have come together to provide an initial start of $100,000 for these efforts, which will allow us to make multiple trips for about three days. We need your help to extend our time, so we can continue to provide more aid.

We will be on the ground today, and we will start to evaluate and identify the best way possible to help those Young Living members in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands and cooperate those efforts with local authorities. Be sure to follow the Young Living Foundation Facebook page closely for videos and updates from the field.

THREE WAYS TO HELP

  1. Donate to our disaster relief fund. We’re looking to raise $1 million overall, and much of that will be used initially for recovery efforts in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Every $6,000 raised will support the cost of making a round-trip flight to Puerto Rico to bring aid and to rescue hospital patients.DONATE NOW
  2. Donate the following much-needed non-perishable food and dry goods. You can gather these items yourself or order through AmazonSmile and have them shipped to the Florida address listed below.
    • Sawyer PointOne Squeeze Water Filter System, all-in-one version; click here for the Amazon link
    • Rice
    • Oatmeal
    • Canned foods (meat, beans, pasta, etc.) with pull-top lids
    • Peanut butter
    • Baby food

  3. If you live in the Sarasota, Florida, area, we invite you to come help us load the plane with the supplies starting as early as Tuesday, October 3. We will need help throughout the week, and we will need you to be flexible, as the plane will not return from Puerto Rico on a scheduled time. If you can help, please send your name and phone number to the following email address: volunteer@younglivingfoundation.org.

IMPACTED HURRICANE IRMA
AND MARIA MEMBERS

Our goal is to alleviate any concerns members may have about their Young Living membership so they can focus on the needs of their families.

As of today, October 2, shipments are being sent to Puerto Rico. There is a backlog, and orders will take much longer to arrive. FedEx is also giving priority to life preservation freight that could further delay orders.

Since telecommunications are down throughout the islands, an upline leader can call our dedicated relief line at 1.844.760.2123 on behalf of a member in Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands to discuss ways to cancel orders or to alleviate other business concerns. The line is available Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., MT.

It is because of the extraordinary generosity of our members, donors, and employees that the Young Living Foundation is able to help in a variety of ways. To date, we have committed nearly $6 million in aid to bring hope and relief to our impacted Young Living members.

Our thoughts are with those who have been and continue to be impacted by these powerful disasters. If you have any questions, please send an email to info@younglivingfoundation.org.

The Foundation is currently sending care kits to members in Florida impacted by Hurricane Irma. If you have been severly impacted, or know of a member who has, please fill out a care kit request by clicking below. We are in the initial stages of gathering information on what care kits might be needed for members living on Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
