Young Living Staff Serve Their Communities
Standing tall to protect and renew
Embracing the spirit of service on Earth Day.
Young Living takes its dedication to community and social responsibility seriously, which is why on Earth Day, April 22, approximately 2,000 Young Living employees headed out into their communities to give back on the first annual Employee Service Day.
Young Living employees take their stewardship of the earth very seriously. Our new Employee Service Day is the result of ideas cultivated by our corporate team, supported by our members, and spearheaded by Human Resources and The D. Gary Young, Young Living Foundation.”
Employees had the opportunity to choose from over 30 service projects, organized through close collaboration with local non-profit organizations. From cleaning up trash from public parks, trails, and highways to pulling weeds and planting flowers, shrubs, and trees, Young Living staff were eager to spend the day outside making a difference.
I am so grateful to work for a company that cares about the environment and our local communities. Employee Service Day was an incredible opportunity to give back to the communities where we live and work and gives true meaning to Young Living’s 5×5 Pledge.
One group of employees, in partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation and the city of Lehi, Utah, planted 40 trees in North Lake Park, which will create a lush canopy that park users can enjoy for years to come. Volunteers who served in the many canyons surrounding the Salt Lake valley pulled thousands of pounds of myrtle spurge, a noxious and invasive weed, while others collected hundreds of pounds of trash from parks, neighborhoods, and adopted highways.
Young Living employees weren’t the only ones excited about the opportunity to serve, as Ann Shumway from Camp Jeremiah Johnson explained. “I’ve never seen a group work so hard and get so much accomplished. We were able to complete projects that have needed to be done for years. I can’t even begin to tell you how grateful we are for the service!”
Employee Service Day is just one of the many steps Young Living is taking to be stewards of the earth and create lasting change for communities and families across the globe. To learn more about our commitment to making a difference, visit YoungLiving.com/5x5.
